Launch Qatar as a new destination for the French market

Unknown in the French market, Qatar decided to invest strong resources to attract tourists. When in 2013, Qatar Tourism Authority decided to entrust Interface Tourism with its representation in the French market to become one of the unmissable destinations in the Arabic Peninsula, we thought it was necessary to start the promotion to a key-target: trade.

What we've achieved

Because of a lack of awareness of the destination, tour operators did not feature Qatar in 2013. Thanks to a great number of trade development activities, 25 tour operators now sell Qatar in late 2015! To increase the trade’s knowledge about Qatar, a comprehensive e-learning program has been launched in 2014 to train French travel agents, and 300 are now certified. In addition, 20 training sessions have been organised across the whole of France, training more than 300 travel agents in only 2 years! Also, 65 product managers and travel agents had the opportunity to discover the destination by themselves thanks to 10 fam trips.

Communication in trade presse has also been very strong since 2013, with many campaigns promoting training and e-learning, as well as competitions. In September 2015, to celebrate Qatar’s second year at IFTM Top Resa trade show, 5.000 copies of a 8 pages mini guide were published in cooperation with one of the leading trade media in the French market.
